Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, has drawn attention on social media after being captured in a circulating video appearing to peek at another voter’s ballot during the voting process.
The incident, which occurred at the Nhyiaeso polling station where Dr. Amoah cast his vote in his bid to retain his parliamentary seat, has ignited discussions on platforms like X (formerly Twitter). Ghanaians have shared mixed reactions, with some criticizing the act while others dismiss it as harmless.
Dr. Amoah, a finance expert, rose to prominence within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after defeating the former MP, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, in the party's primaries in 2019.
In the video, the MP is seen smiling confidently as he cast his vote, expressing optimism about his chances and those of his preferred presidential candidate. The footage has since fueled further scrutiny as the election unfolds.
