The Ghana Police Service has entreated motorbike riders to stay away from polling stations across the country during Saturday's election.
According to ACP Grace Ansah Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, based on intelligence picked up from polling stations, motorbike riders have been observed trying to access various polling stations, posing a potential security risk.
"To ensure the safety and security of voters, we are directing that all motorbikes be parked at least 100 meters away from polling centers," ACP Akrofi said at a press briefing.
ACP Akrofi urged police officers to direct motorbike riders to comply with the directive, emphasizing the need to prevent congestion at polling stations.
The Ghana Police Service has also urged the public to report any suspicious activities or information to their toll-free number, 0800 311 311.
ACP Akrofi emphasized the importance of accurate information, cautioning against the spread of misinformation and disinformation that could compromise the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The National Election Security Task Force has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure election process.
"We are poised, ready, and on the ground to secure the election process up to the end," ACP Akrofi said. "We urge the public to work with us to ensure Ghana wins at the end of the day."
