The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of one person for possessing a weapon at St. Theresa School polling station in Okaikwei South Constituency in Accra.
According to the security service, the suspect is in custody assisting with investigation.
Although the suspect has a party agent accreditation tag around his neck, the Police press release did not indicate which party he is working for.
“The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person, Michael Allotey, for possession of weapon at the St. Theresa School polling station in the Okaikwei South Constituency in Accra.
“He is currently in custody assisting in the Police investigation,” the Ghana Police Service said in its release.
Meanwhile, an official of the Electoral Commission has also been arrested in Kintampo South.
The suspect identified as Dery Joseph has been grabbed for issuing about 15 ballot papers that omitted the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and first presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to voters.
