North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of gross mismanagement and corruption as Ghanaians head to the polls today, December 7.

In a social media post on Saturday, December 7, Mr. Ablakwa said voters would hold the NPP accountable for its “horror track record.”

“Ghanaian voters will remember the NPP’s horror track record of corruption, state capture, lootocracy, economic mismanagement, cruel financial haircuts, and unparalleled greed as they cast their ballots today,” he wrote.

The MP, who has been vocal about uncovering corruption under the current administration, shared a detailed summary of 50 alleged scandals he claims to have exposed through parliamentary oversight.

Highlighting some of the exposés, Mr. Ablakwa cited the $12.2 million Oslo Chancery purchase, the controversial Frontiers COVID-19 airport testing scheme, and President Akufo-Addo’s alleged use of luxury chartered jets.

He also mentioned the National Cathedral project as a prime example of what he described as the NPP’s culture of impunity.

According to him, the project was riddled with irregularities, including inflationary pricing, unlawful procurement processes, and unexplained payments.

He noted to have uncovered how $58.1 million was wasted on constructing what turned out to be the world’s most expensive pit.

Other allegations included the demolition of state properties for personal gain, the Ministry of Communications’ $48 million sweetheart deal with Ascend Digital Solutions, and the inflated cost of the Bank of Ghana’s new head office building.

Mr. Ablakwa assured Ghanaians that his exposés were based on evidence gathered through his role in parliamentary oversight.

Mr. Ablakwa urged citizens to consider the implications of corruption and economic mismanagement on their daily lives and vote against the ruling party.

He called on voters to ensure accountability through the power of their ballots.
