Election 2024: More people traveling to vote than in 2020

A driver at the O.A Travel and Tour bus terminal has observed an unprecedented crowd at the station in Accra, as citizens prepare to travel to their hometowns to vote in the upcoming general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Speaking to Happy Kasiɛbɔ, the driver noted that the turnout of travelers this election season far exceeds what he has seen in previous years.

“Many Ghanaians are eager to vote this year, hoping for a change that will improve their lives,” he said.

He revealed that some passengers had spent the night at the terminal due to a shortage of buses traveling from Accra to other regions.

“Most of the buses have been hired by individuals and institutions for the festive season and the elections,” he explained, adding that the high demand has stretched their resources.

The driver expressed hope that more buses would arrive soon to accommodate the waiting travelers.

“The long queue you see now will triple by evening because people are determined to travel and vote,” he said.

The scene at the bus terminal reflects the heightened enthusiasm among citizens to participate in the elections, highlighting the significance of this year’s polls.
