Akufo Addo, The Jesus Betrayed By The Three Judases

Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo was finally declared a winner on the evening of 9th December, 2016. It was an emotional one. He had lost narrowly in 2018 and in 2012 it ended in the courts. After a controversial few minutes ruling by Justice William Atubiga of the Supreme Court, Akufo Addo declared his intention in arguably one of the the most brilliant speeches he ever made that he disagreed with the ruling but accepted it and won't seek a review. So when he won in 2016,everybody, like Hannah celebrated with him. The gap was beyond expectations but he did it! So on January 7th, 2017, "the short man", "the arrogant man", "the divisive man", "the drug dealer", and "the oluman" among many other derogatory names given him by the NDC, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo was sworn in as the fifth president of the fourth Republic of Ghana. He was in a hurry to build a united and prosperous nation so he had no time for grudges. Nana Addo gave his trust to some big three who later became betrayers like Judas and sold him to his enemies but unfortunately for them they still couldn't bring him down.

The first was Alan Kyerematen. Infact this man who was highly favored by J.A. Kufour as Ghana's Ambassador to the United States and later as Minister of Trade and Industry, Private Sector Development (PSD), and Presidential Special Initiatives (PSI) during his administration was the first man to be assured of a position in the government of Akufo Addo. Although he did nothing significantly better than the others who toiled day and night, rain and shine to make Akufo Addo president, Alan, the man who dejected the NPP and resigned from the party in 2008 because of Akufo Addo was honored as a minister again by the same Akufo Addo. For almost 8 years, Alan was given the position of trust to serve as the minister to champion the president's vision of One District One Factory making him the only man to be privileged to serve for almost 16 years in the combined two governments of the NPP. When the battle for the NPP's flagbearership raged on, he felt insulted by the possible victory of Bawumia in the primaries and withdrew from the contest which he thought was his birthright. Alan again resigned from the party on 25th September, 2023 and formed his own party in the name of a movement; a movement born to insult Bawumia and rubbish the achievements of Akufo Addo. Ex President Kufour who brought Alan to prominence was not even spared the venom all because he endorsed Bawumia. Chief Alan thought himself better than Kufour, very better than Akufo Addo and extremely better than Bawumia. Later events showed he was only following Akufo Addo because he thought the flagbearship would be given on a silver platter without a contest but when it was evident he stood no chance, he drew his dagger and stabbed Akufo Addo in the back.

The second Judas was the first Special Prosecutor. The nomination of Martin Amidu on 11th January, 2018 as the country's first Special Prosecutor(SP) was celebrated across the country like the victory of Akufo Addo. J.J. Rawlings even commended the president for such a gesture and it was evident the new president was determined to fight corruption to the core. How on earth should Akufo Addo do such a thing as to appoint a one time running mate of the NDC, a one time Minister of Interior under NDC, a one time Attorney General under NDC, a loud mouth Citizen Vigilante and a Cadre by blood of the NDC to such a sensitive position as the first SP in Ghana's history? He knew Martin could turn against him any time but he trusted him blindly because he was in a hurry to build a corruption free Ghana. The president gave him everything and it was just a delight to watch how passionately Akufo Addo mentioned the full name of the SP - Martin Burnes Kaiser Alamisi Amidu. He trusted him to put the fear of God into the people but that was never to be. Later this same man betrayed Akufo Addo after few disappointing years in office. As he resigned from his job on 16th November,2020, his 'thank you' title for the man who defied all odds to honour him with the position of Special Prosecutor was the dishonorable name, "Mother Serpent of Corruption". This same Amidu later bombarded the media space with several epistles targeted at ruining the reputation of the president. A Judas indeed!

Nana Addo, the tagged "evil" man in the country won the elections and decided to honour God in a way no president had ever done. He decided to build him a cathedral and he thought the clergy were the right people to be in charge of the building. The land was prepared and the foundation was laid on 5th March 2020. Notable men of God were selected to make the noble dream happen but gradually some of those same men of God begun resigning from the board. Others busied themselves leaking confidential information to the public. The president's confidence in the men of God was heavily betrayed reducing his vision to public ridicule and unprintable insults. The Muslim community even donated to this course but the pastors the president counted upon stood divided and led him down big time. Just as the Pharisees and Sadducees stood against Christ, the Clergy weaponized one of the acclaimed "babies with sharp teeth" and launched unprintable insults at the president and the few clergy who believed in his dream. The good intention of Akufo Addo to build a Cathedral, just as other countries had done has been reduced to day and night mockery and insults, and now referred to as the most expensive hole in the world!

As the president bows out of office his legacy is unmatched but I know his kind heart will hold no grudges against Martin Amidu, Alan kyerematen and the supposed men of God who betrayed his trust like Judas, one of the twelve who betrayed Jesus.
