New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed profound gratitude to the Christian community for their overwhelming support of his presidential bid, despite religious and regional differences.

Speaking during a special thanksgiving and prayer service with Imams and Zongo Chiefs in Accra, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the support he has enjoyed from Christians throughout his political journey.

"I have received tremendous support from our Christian brothers and sisters in this journey. From the primaries in my party throughout my campaign across the country, the support has been massive, and I have been overwhelmed," he said.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance of his victory in the NPP presidential primaries, where he, a Muslim and a Northerner, secured an unprecedented margin of victory in a party with a Christian majority among its delegates.

"When I stood as the only Northerner and Muslim against nine other Christians, the delegates of my party overwhelmingly supported me, and I won with a historic margin," he recounted.

He also shared his gratitude for the continued encouragement and support from Christian leaders and the broader Christian community since becoming the NPP flagbearer.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this unity reflects Ghana’s harmonious religious coexistence and pledged to even strengthen it more under his presidency.

"This support and love our Christian brothers and sisters continue to show to me reflect the beautiful diversity of our country, which I am committed to strengthening as President, in shaa Allah. I am very grateful to all of them."

The Vice President called on the Zongo community, Imams, and Zongo Chiefs to rally behind his campaign and vote for him in the December 7 elections, assuring them of his dedication to serving all Ghanaians.
