TECHAiDE Ghana has taken a bold step in advancing education accessibility with the launch of its improved ‘ASANKA Platform,’ a cutting-edge solution designed to bridge the digital divide for Ghanaian students, particularly those in underserved areas.
The launch, held at the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS) in Accra, showcased the platform’s enhanced features, aimed at ensuring no child is left behind due to lack of internet access.
Speaking to journalists, TECHAiDE Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kafui Prebbie emphasised the platform’s potential to make education inclusive.
“We created this specifically to improve education especially where there is no internet access. So the device and the platform requires no internet so that 70% of our people who don’t have internet access, especially in the rural areas can keep learning,” Kafui Prebbie said.

He said the new ASANKA Platform has been improved in many ways as part of the bigger target to become a leading digital learning platform in Africa.
“In addition to the content that sits on Asanka, we have also created a tracking system, a monitoring system for parents to know how well their kids are doing. We are doing this because we want to impact education in Africa,” Kafui Prebbie said.
CENDLOS Executive Director, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour also expressed pride in the innovation, underscoring its potential to transform education in Ghana.
“Today is for us to launch one of the groundbreaking innovations that is Ghanaian-owned. The name is Asanka and I’m happy that a Ghanaian can create such a thing to improve education in our country. This offline learning platform provides a platform for Ghanaian children all over the country to learn,” Nana Gyamfi Adwabour said in his keynote address.
The CENDLOS Executive Director further called for stakeholders' support for TECHAiDE to ensure the newly improved ‘ASANKA Platform’ achieves its goal.
“Let’s support TECHAiDE and let’s make sure Asanka goes far. What they are doing is great because taking education to the village is very important. Let’s all push to make Asanka an extraordinary product not just in Ghana but in Africa,” Nana Gyamfi Adwabour.
What Makes Asanka Unique?
The name Asanka, which stands for All Subjects and New Knowledge Access, is inspired by the traditional Ghanaian pot, symbolising a vessel of knowledge.
Here’s what sets the platform developed on a digital box apart from other online learning platforms:
Offline Access: Users can learn without internet connectivity, targeting the 70% of Ghanaians in rural areas without reliable internet access.
National Curriculum Alignment: The platform is tailored to the Ghana Education Service curriculum, covering content from Class One to Junior High School, with plans to include Senior High School in the future.
Student Monitoring: Parents and teachers can track progress and provide targeted support.
Affordable Learning: Even users with limited internet access can leverage the platform for remedial studies and supplementary learning.
