Election 2024: Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI prays for peaceful elections

Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area in the Central Region, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI says he is praying for peace to prevail before, during and after the December 7 General Elections.

He has however called on the Electoral Commission which is the referee for the upcoming general elections to carry out the elections in free, fair and transparent manner to satisfy the parties involved.

In an interview with newsmen at Apemadze Shrine as part of the annual Akwambokese festival recently, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI said Nananom in the traditional area always seek the face of the ancestors to let peace prevail especially in election years.

"We Nananom in the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area pour libation constantly to seek peace and stability from our ancestors so that they will protect us against any calamity that may disturb our peace and coexistence as a result of bad officiating on the field of play.

"The Electoral Commission should bear in mind that political parties have invested in their attempt to form the next Government, though they have good policies for Ghanaians, the competition ought to be free, fair and transparent to satisfy both winners and losers.

"The actions and inactions of officials of the Electoral Commission in the run-up to December 7 general elections should be a balanced game," he stated.

Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI expressed the hope that everything had been put in place to ensure the December 7 general elections become a memorable one in the history of Ghana.

He called on shareholders to add their voices to the call on Ghanaians especially political party leadership and the youth against involving themselves in any act contrary to laws governing elections in the country.

"Going forward, I would like to suggest the use of eggs and schnapps to swear oaths at our various offices, especially at our law courts and when taking political positions.

"I believe this traditional method would reduce corrupt practices because many people fear swearing oath with eggs and schnapps than using the Bible and the Quran.

"You dare not swear oaths before a shrine or pour libation to the ancestors and lie afterwards, you will get instant justice, we must implement these traditional methods to reduce corruption-related practices in the country.

"With few days to elections, carry out intensive public education on the need for coexistence and social cohesion to spearhead human and infrastructure development," Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI stressed.
