Faustina Elipklim Akurugu, the parliamentary candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed confidence in her chances of capturing the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.
Speaking to the press during a visit to the Atomic Police Station special voting centre, Akurugu likened her mission to deliver the constituency from what she described as the "shackles of the NPP" to Moses leading the Israelites out of the wilderness.
"I’m not a prophetess, but looking at the work we have done, we are going to win the seat," she declared. "I have listened to the people, and I will do what they want."
Akurugu highlighted the extensive engagement her campaign has had with various groups in the constituency. "I have interacted with all the groups, and that is why I’m confident that I will win. For 20 years, you have been in the wilderness, and I’m coming to deliver you like Moses delivered the Israelites," she said with conviction.
Her remarks underscore the NDC's ambition to make history by flipping the Dome Kwabenya seat, a stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
