Coach David Duncan is to stay at Ashantigold for the next football season after steering the miners to the runners-up position in the last football season. This follows the renewal of his contract with Ashgold at the weekend.
Confirming this to the Daily Graphic yesterday, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo, the CEO of Ashgold, said the decision to renew the contract of Duncan was based on his performance in the just- ended season.
According to him, negotiations for a new deal had been concluded and the two parties would formally sign the deal today.
Fianoo revealed that based on Duncan's own terms he would be signed for only a year.
Duncan took over the technical bench of Ashantigold last season after signing a year's contract which expired at the end of last season.
He recalled that when the coach took over, Ashgold for four years had had been persistently performing abysmally.
He lauded Duncan's keen sense of mission which has translated into great fortunes for the club since last season and hoped that the modest gains chalked up by the team would spur them to greater heights in the coming season.
Duncan on assuming the reins at Ashgold after heading the technical benches of Sekondi Hasaacas and the national U-17 side, has managed to transform a team virtually composed of players from their academy into a strong premier force.
