International Fraud Awareness Week: Rotimi Onadipe urges public to be proactive in fraud prevention

Rotimi Onadipe Advocates for Proactive Measures Against Fraud During International Fraud Awareness Week

As the world marks this year’s International Fraud Awareness Week, Rotimi Onadipe, an advocate for internet safety and publisher of Internet Safety Magazine, has joined forces with organizations around the globe to raise awareness about the dangers of fraud.

Speaking to the public on the final day of the event, Onadipe emphasized the need for everyone to take a proactive role in the fight against fraud.

"Fraud is dangerous, destructive, and it can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. We are all potential victims of fraud. No one is too young to be defrauded, and no business is too small to be targeted by fraudsters. This is why we must all be prepared to prevent it at all costs," Onadipe stated.

He continued, stressing that the most powerful tool in combating fraud is awareness. "The most effective weapon to win the fight against fraud is sufficient awareness about fraud and its preventive measures. You don’t need to wait until it happens to you before you protect yourself," he added.

In an era dominated by technology, Onadipe warned against underestimating the menace of fraud and cybercrime.

"Never underestimate the importance of being proactive in fighting frauds and scams. It’s always better to avoid falling victim than to face the consequences and then look for a way out. It’s better to be safe than sorry because, in most cases, the effects of fraud can be devastating—resulting in reputational damage, financial losses, serious health challenges, and even untimely death," Onadipe cautioned.
