Akufo-Addo inaugurates phase II of Tema Motorway Interchange

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to achieving equitable development across Ghana, with infrastructure serving as a cornerstone of national progress.

Speaking on Monday, December 2, 2024, during the inauguration of Phase II of the Tema Motorway Interchange, the president highlighted the project's importance as part of his government’s strategy to decentralize economic opportunities and reduce regional disparities. He stressed that such initiatives are vital for fostering balanced and inclusive growth nationwide.

"The commissioning of this interchange is part of a deliberate strategy to decentralize economic opportunities and ensure equitable development across the nation. From the Pokuase Interchange—the largest in West Africa—to the Tamale Interchange, the first of its kind in Northern Ghana, we have worked tirelessly to open up our country, reduce disparities, and empower communities," President Akufo-Addo stated.

He further noted that the government’s commitment to infrastructure development extends beyond roads, with significant investments being made in railways, healthcare, and education. "We are laying the foundation for a resilient, economically vibrant, and inclusive Ghana," he added.

In the last two weeks, President Akufo-Addo has also commissioned two major road infrastructure projects in Accra: the Flowerpot Interchange and the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange. These projects aim to reduce traffic congestion in the capital, further demonstrating the government's commitment to improving the nation’s infrastructure for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
