Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners of Ghana, otherwise known as Ghana Drunkards Association has directed all bar owners in the country to keep bars and spots closed between 6 am and 6 pm on Saturday, December 7.
This according to a press release issued by the association is to ensure consumers do not get themselves drunk before going to the various polling centres in the country to cast their ballot.
This the association believes will reduce the number of rejected ballots and will ensure sanity at the polling stations throughout the election process.
“As part of our responsibility in ensuring a transparent and peaceful environment ahead of the 7th December elections, we the beverage consumers and bar owners of Ghana would like to caution all bar owners and bartenders not to open their spots, pubs, bars or blue kiosk to the public from 6AM to 6PM on the 7th of December 2024.
“This directive is to ensure that consumers do not get themselves drunk before going to the polls to avoid the counting of rejected ballots and also ensure sanity at the various polling stations during the election processes.
