President Nana Akufo-Addo has come under intense criticism from prominent voices, including University of Ghana political scientist Professor Ransford Gyampo, who accuses him of betraying the trust and goodwill of Ghanaians.
Speaking on TV3’s The Key Points, Prof. Gyampo said President Akufo-Addo has failed to live up to the impression he created about himself during his campaigns.
“Akufo-Addo deceived all Ghanaians into believing he was something he is not,” Prof. Gyampo asserted. “He has squandered the trust and goodwill placed in him,” he added.
His comments echo those of Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, a prominent member of the NPP, who also criticized the President's poor leadership.
Dr. Kennedy labeled Akufo-Addo as the "worst President in the Fourth Republic" and suggested that his bad record is weighing down the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) chances in the 2024 elections.
“President Akufo-Addo’s performance has become an albatross around the neck of Dr. Bawumia,” Dr. Kennedy noted, referring to the NPP’s presidential candidate and current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Akufo-Addo administration has faced mounting backlash over economic challenges, corruption and fake promises, which critics say have left Ghanaians disillusioned.
