'Am I dreaming? That’s why Bawumia is having sleepless night' – Mahama stunned by massive turnout at NDC Campaign Walk in Kumasi

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, was visibly amazed by the overwhelming turnout at the party’s campaign walk in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.

Thousands of enthusiastic supporters clad in NDC colors converged at the Aboabo Post Office, parading through the streets before assembling at the Kumasi Jubilee Park. The massive gathering created a vibrant display of solidarity, with chants and songs resonating across the city.

Addressing the energized crowd at Jubilee Park, Mr. Mahama expressed his astonishment at the turnout.

"Am I dreaming? Are we in Kumasi? Are we in the Ashanti Region? Someone should wake me up; maybe I'm dreaming. That’s why Dr. Bawumia is having a sleepless night," he said, eliciting cheers and applause from supporters.

The NDC flagbearer criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he described as an obsession with his persona, accusing them of focusing on him rather than addressing pressing issues or promoting their flagbearer.

He also lambasted the NPP for failing to deliver on their promises to the Ashanti Region, historically a stronghold of the governing party.

"The elephant will go back to the bush," Mr. Mahama declared, hinting at a potential political shift driven by dissatisfaction with the NPP's performance in the region.

The event not only showcased the NDC's growing support in the Ashanti Region but also reinforced the party’s commitment to challenging the dominance of the ruling party in its traditional stronghold.
