President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, as the “man of destiny” to lead Ghana into the future.
Speaking at a ceremony at OLA Senior High School, President Akufo-Addo praised Dr. Bawumia’s intellect, honesty, and loyalty, highlighting their 16-year working relationship as proof of the Vice President’s competence.
“I am confident, and I am saying so in all solemnity to the people of Ghana, that Mahamudu Bawumia is the man of destiny for our country.
“In these 16 years that I have worked with Dr. Bawumia, I have not had one single doubt in his quality. This is an honest man. He is a loyal man, and a man of enormous intellect, and his concern for Ghana is immense,” the President said.
He urged Ghanaians to critically consider the upcoming December 7 elections as one of the most significant decisions in the nation’s history.
“The decision we will make on December 7 is going to be one of the most consequential decisions that our generation of Ghanaians is going to be called upon to make. And that is why it is important that we bear in mind all the considerations that would enable us to make an informed choice,” President Akufo-Addo added.
President Akufo-Addo emphasised the need for Ghana to consolidate gains in education and prepare the nation for the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.
He expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to provide the visionary leadership necessary to achieve this.
“Who would be the person who has a clear grasp of what it takes to confront the fourth industrial revolution and thereby provide us the leadership that would enable us to succeed in this 21st century?” he asked.
Reflecting on Ghana’s development priorities, the President noted that human capital, rather than natural resources, is the ultimate driver of national prosperity.
“It is not necessarily the natural resources or the fertility of the soil that guarantees prosperity. It is the quality of the human capital that is the game changer,” he stated.
President Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to rise above political allegiances and choose the right leader for the long-term benefit of the country.
“I understand political allegiances and political loyalties, but at the same time, I think there are moments when we have to look above the parapet and think of the long-term destiny of our country, and choose the right man,” he said.

Congratulations Dr Bawumia. You are a man of vision and hope for the country. The future of the youth is dear to you. You are honest and integrity is your bedrock. Your character is par excellence. Ghanaians should vote against Mahama because he's corrupt, dishonest, incompetent and lacks the vision to steer the country to prosperity. Rather Ghanaians should vote for the man of destiny, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
