Minister inaugurates T`Poly TESCON executives

Papa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports, on Saturday asked members of the Takoradi Polytechnic Chapter of Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON), to re-affirm their beliefs in the founding ideals of the party.

He was speaking at the inauguration of new executives of TESCON at Takoradi Polytechnic.

Papa Owusu Ankomah, who is the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, said the NPP could take credit for enshrining the notion that all Ghanaians have the freedom to think and speak as they please on all matters affecting their personal and public lives.

He said the NPP is a party of change in the country because of the soundness of its guiding principles, its belief in open debate and the contribution of all members of the party, be they young or the old.

Papa Ankomah said although the government has made great strides in rebuilding the country's shattered infrastructure, Ghanaians deserve a better life across the board and not just for the privileged.

He said the task of embedding democracy in the country is not over and there are opportunities ahead to improve governance.

Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister of Fisheries and Member of Parliament for Takoradi, said the main concern of the NPP is the development of the country.

She urged members of TESCON to be prepared to help ensure that polling stations are well-managed during the 2008 elections.
