Hawa Koomson Responds, However, The Unfinished Project Is Causing Inconvenience

Feature Article Hawa Koomson Responds, However, The Unfinished Project Is Causing Inconvenience
THU, 28 NOV 2024

After a number of publications alerting Madam Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, to an unsuitable accessible road and a poor drainage system at "Ghana Flag," a small community along Obom Road in Kasoa, the woman who also serves as the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, acted quickly to start the project.

I informed Hawa Koomson about the terrible state of the neighborhood's poor drainage system, which has turned into a mosquito-infested ground and an inaccessible road that has also turned into a pool, when I visited Ghana last year to look into the impact of corruption by the Akufo Addo-Bawumia’s government on illegal mining, businesses, the economy, and investments.

Work in progress, but abandoned project is causing more hardships to both drivers and pedestrians

Madam Hawa Koomson started the projects, re-constructing the road to make it available to drivers and other road users, a year and four months after the publications. However, residents are unable to drive in or out since the gutter project, which was supposed to remedy the inadequate drainage system, has been put on hold for a while. One of the locals said that his car is parked inside his home and can’t drive out.

The condition of the place before the work started

The newly built gutter that runs along the front of one of the homes to a section of the road requires a bridge so that vehicles can cross to respond to daily activities. Therefore, I respectfully ask that Madam Hawa Koomson allow the workmen to finish the job, and more importantly, notifying the locals when the project will be finished will also benefit the Member of Parliament.
