Collapsed building kills two

By Joe Lartey

A woman and her three year old daughter last Tuesday met their untimely death at Adwumakase Kese, a town in the Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region when a building collapsed on them after a heavy rainfall.

Georgina Ama Agyeiwaa and her three year old daughter, Ama Owusua were found dead under the rubble of the house after the rain which was accompanied by severe winds subsided.

A tearful husband of Agyeiwaa, Opanyin Busumuru told The Statesman that the incident occurred whilst he had left the house to buy something in town just before the rains only to return to meet the sad spectacle.

He said the death toll would have been higher if the disaster had happened in the night since his family of seven all live in the house which collapsed.

Opanyin Busumuru said besides the loss of his dear wife, he and his family are now homeless and have had all their properties destroyed and appealed to the public to come to their aid.
