Three pregnant Junior Secondary School (JSS) students, in spite of their conditions, defied all odds and successfully wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examinations in the Kintampo South District of Brong Ahafo.

George Bonmie, Assistant director and examination co-ordinator of the district education directorate said the attitude of the students "won the admiration" of parents and other educational officials.

He said the district had three examination centres at Jema Secondary school, where four out of the 252 registered candidates were absent. Jema L/A JSS recorded three absentees out of the 183 candidates and New Longoro centre where all the 37 candidates were present.

The assistant director said the examination was held in a very peaceful atmosphere without any incidents and commended the supervisors and the invigilators.

Mr. Bonmie expressed satisfaction that Kintampo South being a new district did not record any problems in the conduct of its first BECE and hoped this success would be carried on in the subsequent years.
