Former Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has made a shocking revelation, expressing his respect for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) due to what he perceives as their love for members.
In a candid interview with Wontumi 101.3 FM, Nana Obiri Boahen did not hold back his criticism of the NPP, indicating that greed is gradually killing the energies in the ruling party.
He explained, “Let’s be very honest, even if you don't like the NDC we must admit they have some good sides. NDC have their good aspects and I must respect them. No matter how you hate the NDC, their greed is not as high as the NPP. For the NPP, greed is too much.”
Reflecting on his personal experiences, Obiri Boahen recounted a situation that left a lasting impression on him. He shared how, during the NDC's time in power, he was offered an opportunity to travel to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, despite being a member of the NPP.
However, in contrast, he was denied the chance to attend the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar by his own party in power, the NPP, even while serving as its Deputy General Secretary at the time.
“In 2022, when I was deputy general secretary of the NPP, I wanted to go to the World Cup but they denied me,” he recalled. “So in all honesty, NDC has a better track record and that’s why the party is standing strong. When one is benefiting, they carry others along. But it’s not the same in the NPP,” he added.
His comments have sparked discussions, as they suggest a deeper issue of disunity and self-interest within his own party, while simultaneously praising the more inclusive approach he sees in the NDC.
