The Founder of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has slammed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their persistent calls for a debate on the economy.

The NPP, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the party’s flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have repeatedly challenged John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to a debate on the economy.

According to NPP leaders and their communicators, the party’s track record in economic management is superior to that of the previous Mahama-led administration. The ruling party has touted their achievements as evidence of better governance, particularly in the area of economic performance.

However, Franklin Cudjoe has dismissed these calls, urging the ruling party to reconsider their approach.

In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, November 13, the IMANI Africa founder expressed his surprise at the NPP’s insistence on a debate, suggesting that it only serves as a painful reminder to Ghanaians of the hardships experienced under their governance.

“I wonder why ruling govt communicators are asking for a debate on the economy suggesting they have been better managers. Guys, stop this. You have destroyed many lives already. Pls do not remind us of the pain,” Franklin Cudjoe stated emphatically.

Just 24 days to the 2024 general election, it is clear that there will be no debate between NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
