The Founder of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has called on the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to reconvene Parliament following the Supreme Court’s ruling on the status of four Members of Parliament.
On Tuesday, November 12, the Supreme Court declared Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to annul the seats of four MPs as unconstitutional.
Reacting to the verdict, Franklin Cudjoe took to Facebook to urge the Speaker to recall Parliament, emphasising the need for the nation to progress beyond the legal impasse.
“Again, no one should ever be disenfranchised. The Speaker of Parliament should recall Parliament and let's move forward,” Franklin Cudjoe wrote, stressing the importance of addressing the situation promptly.
He also praised the Majority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, for his efforts in ensuring that the constituents of the affected four constituencies were not left without representation in Parliament.
“The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, deserves commendation for standing up for the constituents in the four constituencies whose MPs had been declared absent. I only wish he and the Attorney-General had shown similar dedication on the matter of SALL,” he remarked.
