Flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Phillip Appiah Kubi also known as Roman Fada has been qualified from the 2024 presidential race.
The Electoral Commission explains that his disqualification was due to errors in his nomination form filed few weeks ago.
Addressing the press today Tuesday, November 12, the Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensah indicated that the candidate was given the opportunity to address the illegality found on the form.
The EC also indicated that the order on the ballot paper will remain same.
Roman Fada was nominated as the new Presidential Candidate following the death of Akua Donkor, the founder of the party.
The party announced his nomination in a letter dated November 4 to inform the Electoral Commission of its new Presidential Candidate for the upcoming 2024 elections.
Prior to Akua Donkor’s death, Philip was the Vice-Presidential candidate of the party.
The late Madam Akua Donkor passed away on Monday, October 28 at the Ridge hospital in Accra.
The EC later announced the suspension of the printing of ballot papers after Akua Donkor’s death and in pursuant to the 1992 constitution provided a ten-day period for the party to replace their presidential nominee.
