President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned the Cardinals Namdini Mining Company, a Chinese-owned mining enterprise, in the Talensi District of Ghana’s Upper East Region on Friday, November 8.
President Akufo-Addo noted that the establishment of the mining company is expected to boost economic activities in the area and create more employment opportunities.
The President emphasized the positive impact of Ghana’s mineral resources on the national economy, noting the substantial employment generated by the mining sector. He reaffirmed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s commitment to regulating mining activities to ensure sustainable growth.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, commended President Akufo-Addo for his ongoing support of the Ministry, highlighting Ghana’s status as Africa’s leading gold producer. Jinapor pointed out that while gold was historically associated with Ghana’s southern regions, significant mineral resources can also be found in the northern territories.
He added that the Akufo-Addo administration is actively working to revamp the regional offices of mineral resources across the five northern capitals, enhancing local access to mining support services.
China’s Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, also praised the Akufo-Addo administration for its cooperation with the Chinese government, underscoring the positive diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
