Michael Aidoo, the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Oforikrom constituency, has supported the 2024 Oforikrom Municipal Best Farmer, Godwin Beduro, with a donation of GH₵5,000 and 30 bags of organic fertilizer.
He announced this contribution on Friday, November 8, 2024, during the municipality's celebration of the 40th National Farmers' Day.
The support from Aidoo added to the items awarded to Beduro by the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly for his recognition as Best Farmer, which included a new three-wheeled motor vehicle (aboboyaa), knapsack sprayers, organic fertilizer, cutlasses, a wheelbarrow, wellington boots, and more.
In an interview, Aidoo explained that his donation was intended to encourage farmers in the area, noting the vital role they play in sustaining the community. "The contributions made by our farmers call for more motivation and support," he said.
As part of his broader vision for the constituency, Aidoo shared his plans to transform Oforikrom into a hub for vegetable production. He is collaborating with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to equip local farmers with technological skills aimed at boosting productivity. By incorporating innovative techniques into traditional farming practices, he hopes to improve crop yields and increase local patronage.
Aidoo highlighted that an abundance of locally grown vegetables would discourage residents from purchasing produce from neighboring regions. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the farmers of Oforikrom, calling on the community to vote for him in the upcoming parliamentary elections to ensure continued growth and development in agriculture.
