Samuel A. Jinapor, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, has boldly declared that the constituency is firmly in the hands of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 elections and beyond.
Addressing a large crowd of NPP supporters on November 7, 2024, Hon. Jinapor expressed confidence that the NPP has transformed Damongo into a stronghold, securing it as a “world bank” for the party.
Highlighting the development initiatives brought to Damongo under the Akufo-Addo administration, Jinapor emphasised that the area has seen significant improvements in infrastructure, education, and health, which he believes have cemented the NPP’s popularity and influence in the region.
“I want to assure our incoming Vice President, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh that Damongo constituency is secured. It is secured for the NPP in 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036 and will continue to be a stronghold of the NPP. We are building a party to become a stronghold in the constituency,” he said amid applause from hundreds of supporters.
In a high-energy moment, Hon. Jinapor introduced Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the NPP's Vice Presidential candidate, lauding his dedication to public service and his role in initiatives like the Free SHS program and addressing the energy crisis (dumsor).
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, well known as NAPO, took the podium to reaffirm the importance of Damongo in Ghanaian elections, calling it “a place of spiritual and historical significance” for the NPP.
NAPO highlighted the region’s strides under the NPP, contrasting this progress with the tenure of former President John Mahama, who hails from the area but, according to Prempeh, brought fewer benefits to Damongo.
Savannah Region Minister, Saeed Muhazu Jibral echoed same sentiment, listing various development projects completed by the government and urging the people of Damongo to reward the NPP’s efforts with another decisive win.
Jinapor and NAPO’s remarks emphasise the NPP’s confidence and their ambition to secure a lasting political legacy in Damongo.
The rally concluded with calls for unity among NPP supporters to ensure victory not only in the upcoming 2024 elections but also to establish Damongo as a permanent stronghold for the party in Ghanaian politics.
