Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a Governance Lecturer at Central University, has criticized Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, accusing him of prioritizing personal interest over parliamentary unity.
Parliament reconvened on Thursday but the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs boycotted the House for a second time.
The protest follows Minority decision to occupy the seats of the majority members.
In view of the scenes in the Legislative House, the Speaker again suspended Parliament sine die for lacking quorum to make decisions.
Commenting on the latest development in the House, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah slammed the Speaker for refusing to recognize the Supreme Court ruling.
Dr. Otchere-Ankrah indicated that the Speaker is gradually becoming "power drunk" stating, “he enjoys power more than his job and salary.”
He admonished the Speaker to put his "ego aside and work".
He further advised Bagbin to use his "number 3" position that he so cherishes to bring peace and order in Parliament saying "we have to let cool heads prevail".
The Governance Lecturer made these submissions on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.
