The current head of the Electoral Commission, Jean Adukwei Mensa, has been implicated in many electoral crimes in 2016 and 2020, which resulted in Ghanaians suffering significant economic setbacks and the deaths of eight innocent voters. Mensa's electoral malpractices have grown unending as she has been shielded by a corrupt and lawless judiciary. She has also been found to be involved in numerous troubling electoral frauds that could incite electoral violence in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
To inflate the number of registered voters for the ruling government, along with other NPP politicians like Serebuor Quaicoe and Bossman Asare, they transferred the names of NDC voters from its strongholds to unidentified locations and either added ghost names to the NPP’s voters’ register or delete NDC voter names. Another episode was the theft of biometric devices from the EC's offices, one of which was found in the possession of a man who was registering illegitimate voters on behalf of the NPP Member of Parliament Frank Annoh-Dompreh, in his constituency at Nsawam.
The opposition is aware of the intentional manipulations of the voters’ register and often queried the Electoral Commission. However, the EC always defends itself by claiming it was an error. The opposition demanded a forensic audit to ensure that the voter registration was completely error-free, but Jean Mensa refused, stating that the errors had been fixed. In Ghana is the Peace Council and other institutions preaching for peace towards 2024, but none is interested in persuading the EC to accept the forensic auditing.
The question is: What is Jean Mensa or the Electoral Commission's office afraid of that they won't agree to a requirement that will ensure a free and fair election and promote peace? Since Jean Mensa refused to submit to the forensic audit, it is now abundantly evident to Ghanaians, especially the opposition that she has additional evil intentions to rig this year's elections, just as she has done in the past, which will lead to ineptitude, pervasive corruption, and the collapse of the economy.
The current government's state, resources, and financial capture, as detailed in the book "Agyapadie," has caused the economy, businesses, and investments to collapse. The economic crisis is so severe that making any evil plans of Jean Mensa to rig this year’s election again will be a very dangerous move, since many are blaming her as partly responsible for the state capture, widespread corruption, and the highest youth unemployment rate, amid a staggering national debt of GHC 763 billion.
Ghanaians are disappointed in the NPP government and upset because they believe that Akufo Addo and his current vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia, have lied to them or misled them. They have not fulfilled all of their promises, including the fight against widespread corruption and illegal mining. Sadly, despite being denied everything that makes people valuable, Akufo Addo is interested in unveiling a statue in his honor.
When it comes to his incompetence, laziness, and corruption, which caused the nation's infrastructures to crumble, Akufo Addo is not at all bothered. The president is neither worried about his involvement in illegal mining which has ruined the nation’s major rivers, nor worried about health hazards regarding the deformities of babies, and killing of Ghanaians, including pensioners, after the introduction of the debt restructuring to secure financial assistance from the IMF, rather, he unveiled a statue in his honor.
What sort of individual is worthy of having a monument built in their honor, if I may ask? In my perspective, someone who has accomplished significant success and accomplishments, or who has done many nice and useful things for people, deserves a statue. Akufo Addo hasn’t accomplished anything in Ghana or for Ghanaians to unveil a statue of himself. Since he knows that he has failed and no one will find it worthy to build a statue for such a corrupt state wrecker, he decides to do it himself.
It shows how nasty and thoughtless Akufo Addo is if he can present a statue in his honor and shows no remorse for all the wrongdoing he has committed against Ghanaians. Many Ghanaians now believe that the president's provocative statue is the catalyst that will rapidly send the government to the opposition. An intelligent man can’t treat others in such a manner and have a statue erected in his honor and this has already sparked hatred and rage against Jean Mensa.
Since he is aware that Ghanaians will not put up with this nonsense in Accra or the Ashanti Region, he decided to place the statue at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in Ghana's Western Region. However, due to his widespread corruption and incompetence, the residents of the Western Region are also not interested. I don't even think the stupid statue of Akufo Addo will survive, I can see its demolition because Ghanaians will not take this year's election manipulation kindly. There will be violence.
I am, therefore, appealing to Jean Mensa to step down if she is not ready to organize a free and fair election because she can’t escape the justice of the wrath and anger of the mob. There is a time for everything, so, if Jean Mensa wants to change or deny Ghanaians their wish, she will dearly pay for it together with her family.
