The Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) has embarked on a transformative project aimed at improving its operational efficiency and setting a new benchmark in Ghana’s oil and energy storage sector.

Speaking at the Minister’s Press Briefing in Accra, Dr. Edwin Alfred Provencal, Managing Director of BOST, announced that the company is set to complete Phase 1 of its ambitious upgrades to the Accra Plains and Kumasi depots.

"These upgrades are a vital step in BOST's broader mission to build a more resilient and responsive oil supply chain for the country.

“This upgrade is not just about improving our infrastructure but about setting a new standard for operational excellence across our sector,” Dr. Provencal emphasised.

The enhancements are expected to significantly increase BOST’s capacity to meet fuel demands efficiently, while also making strides towards sustainability.

Phase 1 of the project alone is designed to reduce inter-depot loading times from four hours to just one hour and 30 minutes, while barge loading times have already been cut from seven days to a single day.

The project is part of BOST's evolving role in Ghana’s energy landscape.

Formerly known as the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company, BOST is now transitioning into the Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Company.

This rebranding reflects a strategic shift towards a more comprehensive energy storage model, which includes not only oil but also sustainable energy sources like solar and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

"This shift aligns with BOST’s rebranding ... toward a broader energy storage model," Dr. Provencal explained, pointing to the company's vision of incorporating clean and sustainable energy solutions.

The Managing Director highlighted how these upgrades would strengthen BOST’s reputation as one of Ghana’s premier state-owned enterprises by enhancing service delivery and customer satisfaction.

“We believe this will enhance our capacity to meet Ghana’s fuel demands efficiently and sustainably,” he said.

The improvements in depot infrastructure, along with network-wide upgrades, will ensure BOST can respond to national energy needs with greater speed and reliability.
