National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi has accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of undertaking machinations to ensure the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) drops out of the upcoming elections.
Gyamfi alleged, if successful the NPP seeks a rearrangement of positions on the presidential ballot paper.
In a Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Facebook post, Sammy Gyamfi was happy the GFP had taken a step to foil the alleged schemes of the NPP.
"Philip Appiah Kubi, a.k.a Roman Father, has successfully filed his nomination as presidential candidate for the late Akua Donkor’s party, GFP," Sammy Gyamfi noted, adding: "All efforts by the NPP to get the GFP to withdraw from the contest in order that they can attempt to change the position of candidates on the ballot paper have fallen flat."
In a subsequent post, he urged his followers to "ignore the fake news" that the GFP had rescinded its decision to contest in the December 7 presidential elections.
"Here is the evidence of the GFP successfully filing the nominations of their candidate for the 2024 elections. The running mate of the late Akua Donkor and now candidate for the party was accompanied by the general secretary of the party," he explained.
Occupying the third position on the ballot, the GFP's founder and flagbearer Akua Donkor died at 72 on October 28, raising questions about her party's willingness to contest and who would be fielded.
