Just like the Republicans, the ‘elephant party’ will win Ghana’s elections — NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s ruling party, has expressed optimism about its chances in the upcoming December election, drawing inspiration from the recent victory of the Republican Party in the U.S. general elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 6, the NPP congratulated the Republican Party and U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump, who triumphed in the 2024 U.S. election.

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong emphasized the connection between the two parties, citing shared values, ideologies, and even the same party symbol—the elephant—as symbolic of the NPP’s belief in a similar victory in Ghana’s polls.

“We are pleased to join the rest of the world in congratulating our counterpart in the United States, the Republican Party, and the President-Elect, H.E. Donald Trump, for emerging victorious in the just-ended 2024 U.S. elections,” the statement read in part.

The NPP described Trump’s win as “an emphatic endorsement of the vision and ideals of the Republican Party by the good people of the United States,” adding that the NPP sees this as a favorable sign for their campaign.

“It is no secret that the NPP has a longstanding close relationship with the Republican Party and shares a lot of things in common, including the great ELEPHANT symbol, political orientation, and ideology,” Frimpong said.

He went on to express confidence in what he sees as a growing trend toward center-right philosophies globally, which he hopes will influence Ghanaian voters.

“It is our fervent hope that, just like the United States, Ghana’s ‘elephant party’ will also emerge victorious in the December polls, by the grace of God,” the NPP chief scribe remarked.

He underscored the belief that both Trump and Bawumia “share bold solutions” for the challenges facing their respective countries, a stance he feels will resonate with voters eager for decisive leadership.
