The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) on Wednesday called on Ghanaians to be optimistic and vote massively for former President John Dramani Mahama as the next President of Ghana in the December 7 polls.
“Be optimistic. Mahama’s comeback is possible. Let us vote massively for his come back to reset Ghana,” Mr. Abraham Koomson, GFL Secretary General, stated during an interview following electoral development in the USA, stressing the comeback of former USA President Donald Trump is a testament of victory through tenacity.
Therefore, Mr. Koomson urged the electorates to turn out massively on election day despite the intimidation, financial and other inducements, electoral manipulation, and threats to vote for Mahama, stressing, “Be optimistic: Mahama’s comeback is possible.”
The GFL Secretary General noted: “Sometimes the odds may be against you; the ruling party may adopt a diabolical campaign strategy, abuse of incumbency, and use of state power to intimidate and steal the will of the people, but let's be optimistic at this point as Mahama’s comeback is possible."
He reveals that in this year’s election, the Ghanaian voter is faced with a key choice between continuity and change: “a disguised third term of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“The two leaders in the past eight years have brought the Ghanaian economy on its knees; the country is going through both an economic and democratic recession, massive attacks on freedom of the press, destruction of people’s investment, a high rate of unemployment, and workers are going through the most difficult period.
“People's investment has eroded, industries are on the verge of collapse, corruption and state capture on the ascendency, water bodies are being destroyed by some government functionaries, and people have lost confidence.”
Mr. Koomson noted that voting incumbents Dr. Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of office and bringing back former President Mahama will deliver better livelihoods for citizens.
He stressed that across the country there is evidence of numerous unfulfilled projects promised way back from the 2016 and 2020 elections.
“NPP and Dr. Bawumia continue to adopt deceitful electioneering campaigns in an attempt to confuse the electorates to retain them for the third term in government.
“Ghana risks retaining the NPP for the third term. Let us vote them out. Let us be optimistic: Mahama’s comeback is possible. Let us vote massively for Mahama and the NDC to reset the nation.
“Let us vote for the NDC and Mahama to implement the 24-hour economic policy. Let us vote for change,” he stated.
