Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Stephen Atubiga has criticized the party’s current approach to the 2024 campaign.
He asserted that relying on public discontent over the New Patriotic Party’s governance may not be enough to secure victory.
“Elections are not won in Ghana due to good governance or bad government; it’s the strength of your Party that gives birth to a government,” he noted.
Atubiga, who now leads the National Liberation Congress (NLC), expressed his concerns in a social media post, pointing to internal divisions and a lack of unity within the NDC.
In a lengthy post, Atubiga accused the NDC leadership of sidelining party stalwarts and those instrumental in past election successes.
“All the experienced NDC victory-winning machinery team or members from 1992, 1996, 2008, 2012, have either been neglected or not invited,” he wrote.
Atubiga further alleged that the NDC’s campaign structure is disorganized, with the presidential candidate’s office and the national office appearing to work at cross purposes.
“Candidate office and national are paddling different canoe going different direction hoping for same destination,” he commented.
He lamented that the current leadership lacks the genuine camaraderie and unity once prevalent in the NDC.
“The meaning of Comrade in NDC is checking up on your comrade… being each other’s keeper,” Atubiga remarked.
