National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has urged strong supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reconsider their loyalty to the party ahead of the 2024 general election.

He argues that the NPP has not valued the interests of its most loyal regions and supporters.

"Those of you who keep saying you were born into the NPP so you cannot vote against them must have a re-think because the party has proven over the years that they don’t value your loyalty," Asiedu Nketia told residents of Afrancho, a town near Akomadan in the Offinso North District.

He engaged the people as part of a three-day campaign in the Ashanti Region, where he sought to connect with voters.

In his address, Johnson Asiedu Nketia highlighted the importance of elections as an opportunity for citizens to hold parties accountable, especially when they fail to deliver tangible improvements to people’s lives and communities.

He argued that loyalty to a party that neglects community development is counterproductive, particularly in areas where poverty and underdevelopment persist.

"It is time to depart from voting for a tradition that has left you impoverished and your communities underdeveloped in the last eight years when you have a choice that is people-centered and development-oriented in the NDC," he stressed.

The NDC National Chairman also pointed out that many of the development projects in the Ashanti Region, a long-time NPP stronghold, have been undertaken by the NDC, despite the region's consistent support for the NPP.

He suggested that the NPP has taken advantage of the unwavering loyalty of Ashanti voters, failing to reward them with adequate infrastructure and development projects.

"Since they know you will remain loyal to them even if they don’t develop your communities, they will continue to take you for granted," Nketia said, appealing to voters to reflect on their needs and aspirations when casting their ballots on December 7.
