One person has been lynched and another left in critical condition following an alleged motorbike theft in Agona Kwanyarko, located in the Agona West District of the Central Region
According to sources, the suspects were given a hot chase by local 'Okada' riders.
The suspects were apprehended at Awutu Kwame Whettey, leading to one of them being lynched by an angry mob.
Eyewitnesses recounted to Adom News that the two suspects had initially hired a motorbike rider to transport them from Kwanyarko to Obrachire.
However, upon reaching a secluded stretch of the road, the suspects attacked the rider with weapons, overpowering him and seizing the motorbike.
The Awutu Bereku District Police Command visited the violent scene, conveyed and deposited the body of the lynched suspect at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where the second suspect is also receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.
An investigation is reportedly underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the theft and the mob action.
