Election 2024: EC denying us access to printing houses while granting NDC accreditation disappointing — NPP

Elections Election 2024: EC denying us access to printing houses while granting NDC accreditation disappointing — NPP
TUE, 05 NOV 2024

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has voiced disappointment with the Electoral Commission (EC) for allegedly refusing its representatives access to the printing houses where ballot papers for the 2024 elections are being printed.

According to the NPP, only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been granted accreditation to monitor the process.

Evans Nimako, NPP's Director of Elections, expressed the party's frustration during an interview on Adom FM’s 'Burning Issues' with Akua Biakyewaa Yiadom.

Nimako remarked, "We are satisfied with the overall electoral processes so far, but we’re concerned about the lack of access to supervise ballot printing."

The NPP claims that despite following the EC’s instructions to nominate agents for the process, the commission failed to grant their representatives the necessary accreditation.

“If it were the NPP granted exclusive access to the printing, we would certainly hear an outcry from the NDC,” Nimako commented.

He added that although the party relies on its network of informants, they expected the EC to ensure transparency by accrediting all parties equally.

“...But we are okay; we have agents who report to us daily, and we trust the information they provide,” he emphasised.
