Veteran politician and former Minister Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku has questioned former President John Mahama's re-election bid, expressing doubt about his true intentions and ability to bring change.
Speaking to New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at a campaign rally in Atwima Nwabiagya, Ashanti Region, Dr. Apraku openly criticized Mahama’s candidacy, suggesting he is "desperate" for the presidency despite two electoral defeats.
Reflecting on Mahama’s political journey, Dr. Apraku remarked, "He has held every significant position, from Vice President to President, yet he seeks another term.
“People saw the work you did as President and you were voted out and rejected again. What at all has he left at the castle or Jubilee that he is so desperate to come back to take?”
Emphasizing Mahama's past administration, Dr. Apraku continued, "The people judged his performance and voted him out, twice.
“If he couldn’t bring the change he claims to champion during his time in office, what new solutions can he possibly offer now?”
Dr. Apraku reminded the crowd that in a democracy, the people hold the power to grant and withdraw authority, suggesting that Mahama should respect the people's verdict that saw him rejected twice.
"If the people gave you the power and took it back, why ask for it again?" he concluded.
