Former President and 2024 NDC Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed confidence in his economic policies, positioning them as the much-needed “catalysts to reset Ghana’s economy for growth.”
In a Facebook post on Monday, November 4, Mahama outlined his plan to deliver decent job opportunities and improve living conditions for Ghanaians if elected in the upcoming December elections.
Kicking off his campaign in the Oti Region, Mahama visited Kwamekrom in the Biakoye Constituency, where he emphasized his party’s commitment to addressing the pressing needs of youth, farmers, and the broader Ghanaian community.
“The message from the youth and people remains their call for decent job opportunities from the NDC, support for their farming and fishing activities, and the assurance that they cannot wait to vote for change on 7th December,” he wrote.
Mahama highlighted several key initiatives central to his campaign, aiming to address the challenges faced by various sectors of Ghana’s economy.
He noted that initiatives like Farmer Services Centres, the National Apprenticeship Programme, the One Million Coders Programme, FEED Ghana, and the Women’s Development Bank in a “24-hour economy” would be instrumental in driving growth and creating sustainable opportunities.
“I am confident that the Farmer Services Centres, the National Apprenticeship Programme, the one million coders programme, the FEED Ghana, and Women’s Development Bank in our 24-hour economy are the catalysts to reset our economy for growth,” Mahama stated.
The Farmer Services Centres, he explained, would serve as a hub to provide resources, knowledge, and technical support to the agricultural sector, thereby empowering farmers to increase productivity and sustain their livelihoods.
The National Apprenticeship Programme aims to offer skills training and job opportunities for Ghana’s youth, while the One Million Coders Programme seeks to equip young Ghanaians with the technical skills required in an increasingly digital world.
Mahama’s proposed Women’s Development Bank would focus on providing accessible financial services to women, encouraging their participation in economic activities, and fostering financial independence.
The 24-hour economy concept aims to stimulate job creation by facilitating business activities around the clock, thereby maximizing productivity and improving living standards.
