The Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Egyapa Mercer has met with the National Scouting Association of Ghana to discuss the Scouts' upcoming peace walk initiative and other community projects aimed at fostering unity during the election season.
This discussion took place when the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Minister last Wednesday in Accra.
The National Scouting Association, established in the British Gold Coast Colony has been instrumental in rural development across Ghana.
Through projects like building health centres, schools, and water systems, as well as engaging in tree planting and farming, Scouts have contributed significantly to community welfare.
The minister expressed the government’s strong support for the Scouts' peace initiatives, noting that peace was the bedrock of democratic governance.
He gave the assurance that the government would back the Association's efforts stating that, “the government will support this course as one of the initiatives to ensure peaceful and fair elections come December 2024.”
