Dennis Miracles Aboagye, campaign spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, has revealed that about 45 hospitals under the government’s Agenda 111 initiative are completed and set to be commissioned for use before year-end.
Speaking on Joy News’s AM Show, Aboagye confirmed that the facilities, built under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, are fully constructed and largely equipped, ready to be commissioned and operationalized.
“Between 45 and 47 of these hospitals will be commissioned by December,” Aboagye stated.
He added, “Several of these facilities are located in the Ashanti Region.”
He also emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to finishing the remaining Agenda 111 projects if elected.
The Agenda 111 initiative, a flagship health infrastructure program, aims to expand healthcare access nationwide through a network of 111 new hospitals, including seven regional hospitals, two psychiatric hospitals for the northern and middle belts, and a national psychiatric hospital in Accra.
With an investment of approximately $7.65 billion, the initiative underscores the government’s drive to boost healthcare accessibility across Ghana.
