Senior political science Professor at the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has hinted that he will drop his defamation suit against the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha.
The political scientist had threatened legal action against the member of the ruling government over several allegations made against him including an assertion that Prof. Gyampo has a bad international image for inappropriate conduct against students.
After citing the public apology from Salam Mustapha, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has indicated that he will no longer pursue the defamation suit in search of vengeance.
“I have just received this. I am very hard and uncompromising in my stance. But I also know Christ and I am aware He suffered even more defamation than what was done to me. Many have called and insisted that I should still sue, regardless of this apology, so that others would not do same in future. There is wisdom in this suggestion. But as a Christian who struggles daily to please God, I choose forgiveness over vengeance.
“I therefore forgive. I would move on to do what I do best for Mother Ghana,” Prof. Ransford Gyampo said in a post on Facebook.
