The University for Development Studies (UDS) has reassured its students and the public that its academic programs and standards remain unaffected by recent accreditation concerns raised by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
This assurance follows a GTEC notice concerning the accreditation status of certain study centers affiliated with universities in Ghana.
In a statement released by UDS, the institution clarified that the GTEC notice pertains only to specific physical premises used as study centers, not to the academic programs offered by the university itself.
“UDS would like to emphasize that the recent GTEC notice is focused solely on the accreditation status of specific premises and not the university’s academic programs,” the statement noted.
UDS also announced it is collaborating closely with GTEC to finalize an approved list of study centers.
The university has reassured students that admissions for the 2024/2025 academic year will proceed without disruption.
According to the statement, “Admissions for the 2024/2025 academic year are proceeding as scheduled, and all prospective students are encouraged to continue with their registration processes.”
UDS said it will ensure all new students are assigned to appropriate and approved study centers once GTEC confirms the locations.
Continuing students have been informed that the GTEC notice does not impact their studies, allowing them to continue their programs without interruption.
“The ongoing accreditation discussions do not pertain to students already enrolled, and there will be no interruption to their studies,” UDS assured.
