The Deputy Minister for Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah, has inaugurated two new police stations in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region to strengthen security in the area.

For the first time, Gomoa Central now has a District Police Command located at Gomoa Obuasi, upgraded from a regular police station, while the newly constructed police station at Gomoa Pomadze will provide coverage for additional areas within the district.

Speaking at separate commissioning ceremonies at Gomoa Obuasi and Gomoa Pomadze last Monday, Hon. Naana Eyiah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the new facilities, which she described as a significant boost to security in the district.

Hon. Eyiah also praised the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. George Akufo Dampare, for supplying a pickup truck and three motorbikes to support police operations in the area.

The Deputy Minister thanked the local chiefs (Nananom) for their unwavering support of the NPP government and encouraged them to back Vice President Dr. Bawumia in his bid to become the next President of Ghana, to continue advancing policies that benefit the people.

"The NPP Government, under the leadership of His Excellency President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has done a lot for Gomoa Central," she stated. "We have received our fair share of national development across sectors, including education, healthcare, and agriculture, all aimed at improving the quality of life for residents."

Hon. Eyiah urged the people of Gomoa Central to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia and herself in upcoming elections to sustain the progress being made in the district.

ACP Francis Ntsur, the Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, represented the IGP at the event and assured the community that the police would uphold their duties with professionalism to maintain peace and stability. He also advised the officers stationed at the new facilities to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the Ghana Police Service.

ACP Ntsur commended Hon. Naana Eyiah for her role in securing the new buildings, noting that they address long-standing facility challenges faced by the police. He emphasized the importance of regular maintenance to ensure the longevity of the stations.

Gomoa Central District Chief Executive, Hon. Benjamin Kojo Otoo, addressed rumors circulating in the district that the new police stations were established solely to increase arrests. He clarified that the stations are meant to protect residents and foster a safe environment, enabling people to carry out their daily activities without fear.

Nana Esoun Abonyi Kwaata II, Chief of Gomoa Brofoyedur, spoke on behalf of the Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, expressing hope that the two police stations would serve their intended purpose, bringing security and stability to the people of Gomoa Central District.
