Bawumia’s decency has transformed Ghana's politics, making him the most impactful Vice President — Dr. Este Sikanku

Communications expert and a Senior Lecturer at UniMAC-IJ, Dr. Etse Sikanku, has praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his role in transforming politics in Ghana through his decency and leadership style.

Speaking at the launch of his book "Dr. Bawumia and the Modern Vice Presidency” at the Islamic University on Friday, Prof. Sikanku credited Dr. Bawumia with reducing the politics of insults and creating a more respectful tone in political discourse.

"Dr. Bawumia is a decent politician and has consistently demonstrated this throughout his political career, especially now as a presidential candidate,” Prof. Sikanku said.

He added, “He is decent in the way he does his things and very decent in his communication. He does not insult even when provoked and clearly, this has contributed significantly to reducing tension.

“His decency has also changed the political landscape of the country because what the leader does, his tone is very important.”

Prof. Sikanku further described Dr. Bawumia as a "hardworking leader who gets the job done," acknowledging his many impactful initiatives as Vice President.

Despite the historically ceremonial nature of the vice presidency, Dr. Bawumia has redefined the role, making him, in Prof. Sikanku's view, “the most impactful Vice President in Ghana's history.”

Drawing comparisons to former U.S. Vice President Walter Mondale, who also reshaped the vice presidency in his country, Prof. Sikanku emphasized that Dr. Bawumia’s leadership has left a lasting mark on Ghana’s politics.
