Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has firmly rejected the notion that all political parties and politicians are alike.
According to him, different parties hold different values, with some prioritising honesty and truthfulness more than others.
Addressing the chiefs and people of Kojokperi in the Daffiama Bussie Issa (DBI) Constituency in the Upper West Region as part of his 2024 presidential campaign, John Mahama stressed that the NDC distinguishes itself by its commitment to integrity in governance.
“A lot of the people are disappointed in the NPP, and they are going around saying politicians are the same. I beg to differ. All the parties are not the same, all politicians are not the same,” Mahama emphasised during his address.
As Mahama seeks to restore confidence in Ghana's political leadership, he reassured the audience that not all politicians engage in deceptive practices. He cautioned Ghanaians to be mindful of political actors who promise what they know they cannot deliver simply to gain power.
“Some will come and tell you what you want to hear just because they want political power. It is not like that,” Mahama added, insisting that there is a need for sincerity in leadership.
During the event, the Paramount Chief of the Kojokperi Traditional Area, Kuoro Musah Nadi Kibei III, welcomed Mahama’s visit, noting that it was not merely a political act but a recognition of the important role that leadership plays in shaping the future of Ghana.
