Founder and president of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has openly criticised the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) campaign advertisements as the 2024 general election approaches.
With less than two months to the December 7 polls, political parties, including the NPP are ramping up their campaigns to win votes.
Campaign advertisements have become a key tool in these efforts to sway public opinion.
However, Franklin Cudjoe has expressed his dissatisfaction with the NPP’s adverts, stating that they lack the seriousness needed at this critical juncture.
In a post shared on Facebook, the policy analyst argued that whoever is in charge of managing the ruling party's advertisements should not be paid until there is a marked improvement in their approach.
According to Cudjoe, the adverts should focus on addressing pressing national issues, such as unemployment, the struggling economy, and environmental concerns, which he described as an "ecological homicide."
"Who is managing the political adverts of the NPP? Please he or she must not be paid until the adverts are serious. We are at 'war' on unemployment, deep economic malaise & an ecological homicide. Pls let adverts respond," Franklin Cudjoe urged in his post.
Though Cudjoe believes the NPP’s campaign is falling short, the party itself appears confident that its messaging is effective and resonating with the voters.
Nonetheless, Cudjoe’s call for more issue-based, solution-oriented adverts is a reminder of the growing demand for political parties to focus on the real challenges facing the country as they compete for power in 2024.
