The National Disaster Management Organisation has donated relief items to 30 disaster victims at Bonte and Senya in the Nkoranza District of Brong-Ahafo.

At Bonte about 18 landlords had the roofs of their buildings ripped off by a severe rainstorm while at Senya about 12 people had their personal property razed by bushfire.

The items were made up of 60 pieces of blankets, 60 poly mats, 81 lanterns, 27 student foam mattresses, 120 cutlasses, a bale of second hand clothing, seven cartons of cooking oil and 10 bags of rice.

Mr James Kwabena Appiah-Awuah, District Chief Executive, who presented the items on behalf of NADMO, expressed concern about the plight of the victims and urged the people to help control rainstorms by planting trees to serve as windbreak in their communities.

Mr Appiah-Awuah cautioned the people on the handling of naked fire during the dry season to guard against bushfires.

Nana Krobea Asante Sarpong, chief of Bonte, who received the items on behalf of the victims, thanked the government for the gesture.
