No girl absented herself in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District as a result of pregnancy as was the case over the past three years.

Nana John Sam, the Officer-In-Charge of Examinations in the district, told the Ghana News Agency in a telephone interview that all the girls who registered were writing the examination.

He said 4,583 candidates from 119 junior secondary schools were taking part in the examination.

Mr. James Doudo, a supervisor at the Winneba Secondary School Centre "A", told the GNA that 564 candidates from 10 schools are writing.

At the Centre "B" of the same school the supervisor, Mr. Williams Idan, said 446 candidates from 8 schools are writing their papers and that one boy failed to turn up.
